Tyler Glasnow is set to make his long-awaited return Tuesday night when the Los Angeles Dodgers (80-51) open a three-game series in Atlanta against the Braves (76-55) at Truist Park. Glasnow has been on the 60-day injured list with back spasms and hasn’t pitched since the issue limited him to just one inning of work on May 6.
The Dodgers’ star-studded rotation is finally coming into place with Glasnow returning as he joins Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tarik Skubal, Roki Sasaki, and soon-to-be two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, who is also gearing up to return to the mound. Even better for the Dodgers, they seem to have put their losing skid behind them, entering Tuesday on a six-game winning streak with a 9.5-game lead in the NL West and the second-best record in MLB.
The Braves will counter with former All-Star right-hander Bryce Elder, who has been solid this season, bringing an 8-7 record and a 3.92 ERA into the matchup. Unlike Los Angeles, Atlanta hasn’t been able to break out of its prolonged slump, owning a 6-10 record since Aug. 7, which has allowed Philadelphia to climb back into the NL East race, just 3.5 games behind the Braves.
The Dodgers and Braves have been two of the more successful franchises in recent memory, and that hasn’t changed in 2026. Both teams are atop their respective divisions, currently own top-four records in the majors, and have legitimate World Series aspirations, particularly the Dodgers, who are trying to complete a three-peat. Braves vs. Dodgers Best Bet: Under 8.5 Runs (+100)
It may seem odd to make a pick going against two lineups that feature plenty of star power, but there are enough trends to support it.
The Dodgers are averaging roughly 6.2 runs per game over their last six contests, but it’s worth noting that three of those games were played against a not-so-good Colorado team in the extremely hitter-friendly environment of Coors Field. More recently, they’re still averaging a modest 4.3 runs per game over their last three games, which included an extra-inning game against Pittsburgh. The Braves, meanwhile, are averaging roughly 2.9 runs per game during the tough 16-game stretch they’ve been enduring.
As noted above, these two teams already met once earlier this season in a three-game set that produced four total runs in the series opener on May 8 and nine runs in each of the final two games. Braves starter Bryce Elder notably pitched 5.2 scoreless innings of one-hit baseball against Los Angeles during that series on May 10.
Elder has been pitching fairly well lately for the Braves, posting a 3.34 ERA since July 20 and allowing two earned runs or fewer in five of his last six starts. There was one significant outlier, however, when he allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs on Aug. 10 against the New York Mets.
Tyler Glasnow may not have pitched in the big leagues since May 6, but the right-hander was 3-0 with a 2.72 ERA through his first seven starts of the season before landing on the IL. Glasnow didn’t allow a run in a two-inning start in Single-A and allowed just two runs over 11.2 innings between three Triple-A starts as he made his way back to the Dodgers’ rotation.
The Under has also hit in seven of the Braves’ last eight games on the total runs line.
